Baby-food

Feeding toddlers

We have been growing carrots for Blédina for more than 30 years and work hand-in-hand with them to ensure that babies can eat food that is of a high quality, healthy and suited to their organism.

Evolving regulatory requirements and consumer demands mean that we constantly strive to go the extra step and take the time to question everything that we do, whether it be in terms of quality, responsible agricultural practices or our relationship with our partners.

Our carrots are grown for babies and as such their production complies with baby food regulation outlined in specifications that are much more restrictive than for adult food and are very strict in terms of pesticides and other contaminants.

These requirements consist, for example, of producing vegetables

• that are free of pesticide residues, that is below 10 ppb (0,000001%);

• with a nitrate level that is significantly below regulatory requirements  (200 mg/kg versus 400 mg/kg for adults);

• with a heavy metals level that is subject to drastic monitoring and significantly below than authorised for adult consumption.

Harvesting baby food carrots only takes place if the analysis results are compliant with requirements and numerous controls take place throughout the washing and packaging processes (search of chlorates, perchlorates, quaternary ammonium…)

In order to supply parents who wish to prepare homemade food for their baby and the whole family with carrots that are incontestably compliant with food security requirements, our carrots are now available in the fresh produce market, whereas previously they were only available to the baby food production industry. Packaged under our brand, La Madrague, and Blédina co-branded, they are clearly identifiable with their « Destiné à l’alimentation du tout petit » (suitable for infant consumption) logo.
